Iraq-Jordan agreement to increase military and security cooperation

    Iraq and Jordan agreed on the need to increase cooperation in the security and military fields.
     
    The parliamentary delegation headed by First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, as part of the visit agenda of the parliamentary delegation to the Kingdom of Jordan at an official invitation from the latter, according to a statement by the media office of al-Kaabi, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
     
    Al-Kaabi praised, “the distinguished role played by Jordan in defeating terrorism and eliminating its sources and its role in the security of the region, congratulating the benevolent efforts that the King of Jordan contributed to the success of the summit between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt, which was held recently in Baghdad, in an encouraging manner and granting broader powers to exchange experiences, capabilities and finding effective solutions to develop a number of economic and development sectors,”
     
    The two discussed the role of higher education in increasing the volume of rapprochement between the two countries, especially since there are more than 30.000 Iraqi students studying in Jordanian universities, as well as Iraqi professors working in them, as well as the role of the two ministries of foreign affairs to strengthen cooperation in all fields.
     
    In turn, Safadi praised, “the active role played by the Iraqi parliament in opening prospects for more constructive cooperation with the Kingdom, as well as the Iraqi government, which was able in record time to eliminate the largest terrorist organization represented by Daesh, which threatened global security and peace, and the Iraqis were able to restore security to their country through their cohesion to achieve this big goal,”
     
    Both agreed on the need to increase cooperation in security and military fields to address the consequences of the presence of terrorism in the region.
     
    They also talked about facilitating visa procedures for Iraqis and Jordanians, as it would open greater prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the future.
