The Competitions Committee of the Spanish Football Federation announced, today, Wednesday, the penalty for Real Madrid star, Jude Bellingham, after he was sent off with a direct red card against Osasuna in the last round (24) of La Liga.
According to the newspaper "Marca", Bellingham's statements towards referee Munuera Montero were classified as "disrespect" and not "insult or explicit insult", and he was suspended for two matches.
The English international player avoided a more severe penalty that would have reached between 4 and 12 matches
According to the referee's report, "Bellingham said an obscene phrase to him, which led to his expulsion in the 40th minute of the match." After the match, Bellingham defended himself, stressing that what happened was just a misunderstanding.
"Marca" added that Real Madrid will submit a request to the Appeals Committee to cancel or reduce the penalty.
