The Ministry of Electricity revealed on Tuesday, its measures in terms of protecting power transmission towers, while clarifying the nature of its work and its cooperation with the German company Siemens.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Musa, stated to Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the ministry has taken a number of measures, including providing the necessary protection for the power transmission towers, by ministries of defense and interior. As the Minister of Electricity demanded the Directorate of Energy protection to monitor the paths of power lines by thermal cameras.
Musa mentioned that the ministry officials met with head of tribes and mukhtars (local community representatives) in the areas where the towers located, in addition to the departments affiliated with the provinces, districts, and sub-districts, urging them to protect the electricity lines and the infrastructure.
According to Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi directives, regarding cooperation with Siemens, the Ministry of Electricity is exerting great efforts to complete the first phase of work, which includes the implementation of cooling systems for production plants, as well as amending the work plan in the second phase and relying on solar energy, Musa added.
