the Joint Operations Command revealed on Saturday the tasks of the security forces to fortify the Iraqi-Syrian borders in order to prevent the infiltration of terrorism, while confirming that the use of thermal cameras and towers proved their effectiveness on the borders.
The spokesman for the Joint Operations Command, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, stated to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Al-Kadhimi, stressed the need to fortify the Iraqi-Syrian borders, and deploy thermal cameras.
al-Khafaji added, Thermal cameras and towers have proven their effectiveness by monitoring and tracking terrorists, affirming that the cameras enabled the security forces to follow and pursue terrorist gangs wherever they are, their supply routes, and their infiltration process.
In a related issue, al-Khafaji also indicated that the Iraqi borders have become almost completely secured, and there are only few openings or security gaps that work is underway to close it, in order to prevent infiltration into Iraq entirely.
Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, ordered to the control of the border with Syria.
