Speaker of Parliament Muhammad al-Halbousi stressed, today, Saturday, the importance of the role of civil society organizations in educating citizens to participate in elections and build a democratic state.
Al-Halbousi said in his speech during the fourth conference of civil society organizations, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Civil society organizations in Iraq have a major role in achieving victory over the terrorist gangs of ISIS, in addition to their role in the camps for the displaced and the support they provided for the reconstruction of liberated areas and achieving security and stability there.
He added that "these organizations provided services to society in general and according to their specializations, and the state should support and enable it to spread the concepts of democracy and state-building," calling for "the need to benefit from civil society organizations in electoral awareness and urging citizens to elect those who represent them in building their country and achieving the desired progress.".
