The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that Iraqi universities will compete with their counterparts in the QS world ranking , indicating that at the forefront of these universities are the Universities of Baghdad and Kufa.
The head of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, Salah Al-Fatlawi, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The results of the 2021 version of the QS World Classification announced on the official website of the classification (https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world- University-rankings / 2021) showed that five Iraqi public universities are the University of Baghdad (801-1000), the University of Kufa (801-1000), Al-Mustansiriya University (1001+), the University of Babylon (1001+), and the University of Basra (1001+).
They added that "there is a noticeable increase in the number of universities included in the classification compared to the results of last year, which indicated only three universities."
It is worth noting that the British Qs classification is based on five main criteria in the evaluation: academic reputation 40%, employers 10%, student-teacher ratio 20%, quotations 20%, and international students and instructors 10%.
