Ministry of Health and Environment explained the reasons for the recent decline in the numbers of the pandemic in Iraq, as well as the danger of the new Indian virus update and the Iraqis return from it.

“Iraq detected 5067 new cases of the pandemic, 30 deaths and 7351 recoveries,”

"The decrease in the number of infections has several factors, including that the epidemiological curve rose naturally according to the knowledge of viruses and epidemics, then it began to descend and this is what really happened in Iraq as it was expected, " said Haytham Al-Obaidi, director of the Health Promotion Department at the Ministry of Health, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

Al-Obaidi added, "The issue of receiving the epidemic vaccine was an important factor in reducing infections, as well as the growing awareness of citizens in dealing with the threat of the epidemic and its new strains, which prompted them to prevent and take caution,"

As for how to deal with Iraqis coming from India, Al-Obaidi commented, "The cases will be isolated for those coming from India and quarantined in private hotels, and the cases will be quarantined in their homes and re-examined after two weeks and follow-up by field survey teams,"

The first batch of Iraqis stranded in India will arrive today via a flight on Iraqi Airways, after direct orders from Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to evacuate them.
