    The Shatt al-Arab is one of the important tourist and commercial facilities for Basra Governorate and a guide for tourists over the years due to its cultural and economic importance.
     It's  a land that full of archaeological and tourist attractions, parks and gardens surrounding it, as well as cultural symbols, but neglect has become a symbol of it due to the circumstances surrounding Basra Governorate, and the lack of financial allocations that all sectors in the province suffer from.
     In order to advance the Shatt al-Arab and the tourist restructuring and construction in it again, the local government, in cooperation with the Ministry of Irrigation, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Basra Agriculture Directorate and the Basra Municipality Directorate, carried out large dredging and cleaning operations and the removal of obstacles and rubble accumulated on the Shatt al-Arab, in order to restore the aesthetic and cultural specificity of this important facility, starting with From the general course of the Shatt al-Arab in the Qurna district to the al-Faw district, and from the al-Tanuma district to the al-Ashar district, the center of the Basra governorate. 

    The representative of Basra Governor Walid Al-Sharifi said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The salty tide is ringing a warning bell again on Basra Governorate, which exceeded vast areas and reached Al-Faw district," pointing out that "there are proposed solutions to address this problem, the most important of which is the cutter dam On the Shatt al-Arab, but this was not implemented. "

    He stressed that "this issue mainly depends on the role of water resources that have not made a decision in this regard until now," noting that "the lifting of the drowning has not been applied either and no change has occurred in this regard, and it is assumed that the General Company for Iraqi Ports will take measures in this regard and implement Lifting drowning sea. "

    For his part, the Assistant Governor of Basra for Districts and Sub-District Affairs Arab Al-Jazairi referred to "the projects related to the restoration, revitalization and construction of the Shatt Al-Arab District and the advancement of its reality in terms of removing accumulations and eliminating the salt tide," noting that "Shatt Al-Arab projects are projects awaiting financial liquidity, as the cleaning and cleaning operations And the expansion of urbanization projects awaiting financial allocation, "indicating that" there are great plans prepared for the advancement of its reality in order to restore the cultural and tourism status. "
