The head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed the importance of Tehran's return to the dialogue table over its nuclear file, while Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed his country's commitment to supporting the stability of Iraq.
Al-Maliki's office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri Al-Maliki, received in his office today the Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Jawad Zarif and his accompanying delegation," indicating that "during the meeting, developments in the political and security situations in the region were discussed, as well as Bilateral relations and issues of common concern were discussed. "
Al-Maliki stressed "the importance of Tehran's return to the dialogue table regarding its nuclear file, because of its impact on the stability of the situation in the Middle East," explaining that "the region faces great challenges that require everyone to stand and cooperate to overcome them."
For his part, the Iranian foreign minister stressed "his country's commitment to support the stability and sovereignty of Iraq and to strengthen bilateral relations that bring the two countries together in various fields."
