PM: Communication is important between Iraq and Iran officials

    Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi stressed the importance of communication between officials of Iraq and Iran for a rapid developments in the region and the world.

    PM Al-Kadhimi, received on Monday, the Minister of Iran Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif and his accompanying delegation, according to a statement by the media office of the Prime Minister, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    During the meeting, they discussed the development of bilateral relations between the two countries in a manner that serves mutual interests, and strengthening trade exchange, as well as two countries' fulfillment of their financial and contractual obligations.

    They made talks regarding the cooperation of the two countries in facing common security threats based on the cooperation that took place during countering the terrorist organization of Daesh and the prevention of its resumption.

    According to the statement, Al-Kadhimi stressed "the importance of communication between officials of the two countries, in light of the rapid developments taking place in the region and the world, which require continued dialogue and the exchange of ideas between the countries of the region,"

    For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif conveyed the greetings of the Iranian leadership to the Prime Minister, and congratulated him on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

    Zarif referred to "the importance of the role played by the Iraqi government and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, whether at the level of the relationship between the two countries or at the level of regional files more broadly, and the role of Iraq in adopting the policy of dialogue and calm for the sake of security, stability and peace in the region,"

    He declared, "The Islamic Republic of Iran rejects any action or behavior that negatively affects security in Iraq,"
