The Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, received today, Friday, the representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, in the presence of the Special Adviser and Head of the United Nations Investigation Team, in relation to the crimes committed by the terrorist ISIS gangs (UNITAD) Karim Khan.
A statement by Al-Halbousi's media office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the meeting discussed developments in the work of the investigation team into ISIS crimes, and the parliament's support for enacting laws necessary to hold ISIS accountable for mass crimes and crimes against humanity."
For his part, Khan praised "the efforts made by the House of Representatives to redress victims and achieve justice through legislation, the latest of which is the Women Survivors Law."
