International Civilizations Assembly festival on the historical Al-Ukhaidir Palace in Karbala to revive the Iraqi heritage.
"This festival is an important meeting for the convergence of world civilizations, and for this reason the Hussaini and Abbasid museums took the initiative to establish it in this historical place, and to display the holdings in it to revive the Iraqi heritage and direct attention to the cultural heritage of the country and the definition of archaeological sites,” said the general supervisor of Imam Hussein Museum, Diaa Aladdin, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Aladdin explained that 16 Arab and foreign countries participated with folders and pictures referring to their cultures and heritage, most notably Pakistan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Lebanon and Libya.
On the other hand, Karbala Governor Nassif Al-Khattabi said, "65% of the economy of the people of Karbala depends on religious and archaeological tourism, and this festival should be used to create a large tourism environment that elevates the general economic reality of the city,”
Al-Khattabi called for "a serious act by the prime minister and the Ministry of Tourism to support this vital sector, which benefits Karbala in particular and Iraq in general,”
