    With the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan nearing, Iraqi families are preparing to receive this holy month by practicing customs and traditions they are accustomed to every year with the beginning of each Ramadan, and the most prominent of these habits is shopping from the commercial markets, especially the Shorja market, which is Baghdad’s commercial lung, but this year the shopping movement differed from The past years due to Corona prevention measures and avoiding crowds and gatherings, as well as the change in the prices of some foodstuffs.

    The Iraqi News Agency (INA) toured the Shorja market and polled the views of some shopkeepers about the citizens' preparations for the month of Ramadan in light of price fluctuations.

    Ismail Ali, a shopkeeper, said: "The price of a package of a commodity was five dollars, now seven dollars, and we in turn sell it at a difference of a quarter of a dollar per piece," noting that "the main trader carried two dollars because of the high price of the dollar."

    He added, "We cannot load the goods more than a quarter of a dollar because of the consumer’s limited purchasing power, which made us accept a little profit." Momentum overwhelming dollar volatility. "

    For his part, Bilal Al-Jabri, owner of a perfumery shop, said: “The shorja witnessed a great crowd in turnout in preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan, especially when it came to buying spices, cherries and everything related to food and breakfast materials. As for the suhoor, people are satisfied with specific foods.”
