The Minister of Transport, Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli, confirmed today, Thursday, that the selection of the "Korean Daewoo" company to implement the large port of Faw is based on its technical capabilities.
The Ministry of Transport stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that Al-Shibli received the Director of Information of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Haider Majeed and his accompanying delegation to provide support to the Ministry regarding the selection of the Korean Daewoo Company to implement the Faw Port project.
The statement quoted Al-Shibli as saying: "Our choice of the Korean company Daewoo to implement the large port of Faw was not subject to political disputes, but it is based on the technical capabilities of the company in such huge projects."
He added: "We envisage in the referral of projects well-executed and the period required for implementation, while adhering to what was proposed by the Italian consultant, who will follow up the implementation step by step and with precise details of the contract."
