The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, stressed today, Tuesday, that all authorities must support the independence of the Iraqi judiciary as the basis of democracy in Iraq.
The media department of the House of Representatives stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Kaabi chaired an expanded meeting of the parliamentary legal committee in the presence of the chairman and members of the committee and the head of the Judicial Supervision Authority Jassem Al-Amiri."
The statement indicated that "during the meeting, the provisions of the proposed Law of the First Amendment of the Judicial Supervision Authority No. (29) of 2016 were discussed, which was prepared by the Parliamentary Legal Committee based on the provisions of Article 60 / Second of the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005, and it was read in a first reading on the tenth of Last September, "pointing out that the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament stressed that" the judiciary is the main pillar for the success of the democratic experiment in Iraq, and all authorities, especially the legislative authority, must support the independence of the judicial system by enacting sober laws that are comparable to those in the most sophisticated countries in the world in systems. "
