Today, Friday, the Ministry of Oil announced that the fire that broke out in one of the tanks of the Qayyarah refinery was extinguished due to bad weather conditions and lightning that ignited the fuel inside the tank.
The Director General of the Northern Refineries Company, Qassem Abdul Rahman, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The civil defense agencies, along with the safety and firefighting teams of the oil companies, have made a great effort in dealing with the fire of one of the refinery tanks, which contained the quantity ( 5000 cubic meters) of by-products, "stressing that the fire is completely extinguished."
