The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, confirmed today, Monday, that the government will continue to support the Iraqi army, develop its capabilities, and equip it with the latest and most advanced weapons, while indicating that the government has made the duty of caring for the sons of our army a top priority.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated:" Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed S. Al-Sudani attended today, Monday, the central ceremony organized by the Ministry of Defense in Baghdad under the theme "A Hand for Peace and Security, and a Hand for Development and Construction," on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Army."
The ceremony was attended by the Ministers of Defense and Interior, the Chair of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, several committee members, the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, and a number of military commanders.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister launched the construction of the "January 6th City" residential project at Al-Taji Camp for Ministry of Defense personnel and inaugurated several infrastructure projects for the ministry. He noted that the Council of Ministers had issued a resolution to allocate plots of land for Ministry of Defense personnel in other provinces, emphasizing that all support provided to the army is a rightful due, not a favor.
The Prime Minister saluted the Iraqi Army on its founding anniversary, which coincides with the establishment of modern Iraq. He highlighted the army’s vital role as a symbol of the state and a guardian of Iraqi sovereignty and independence.
The Prime Minister praised the army’s heroic role in confronting ISIS, noting that it was at the forefront of the forces that fought and uprooted terrorism. He urged military leaders to maintain readiness to preserve security and stability, enabling the government to continue implementing service and development projects, many of which have been completed thanks to the sacrifices of the security forces.
