US Defense Secretary Mark Esper has warned Europeans that allowing the Chinese telecom group Huawei to build a 5G network could "threaten" NATO.
"If we don't realize the threat and act, then it could end up threatening the most successful military alliance in history, NATO," Esber said at the Munich security conference.
While US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo condemned Huawei, which he considered a "Trojan horse", and considered that its contribution to building the fifth generation network in Western countries will lead to transferring all users' data to the "CPC" and "Chinese Intelligence".
Huawei, the world's largest telecom operator, came under suspicion from the Donald Trump government over the trade war between the United States and China, and was accused of posing a threat of spying for the Chinese government.
The United States called on several countries not to use the infrastructure of the fifth-generation network manufactured by Huawei and America put the Chinese group on a blacklist in May 2019, forcing the American companies and those residing in the United States to resort to other companies to provide communications equipment.
