Al-Halbousi receives Russian PM Deputy

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi received, on Wednesday, the Russian Deputy Premier the head of the Russian side of the Iraqi-Russian Commission for Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Mr. Yuri Borisov, and his accompanying delegation in the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to Moscow Mr. Haider al-Athari.

During the meeting, they discussed means of developing bilateral cooperation in the security, economic and technical fields.

They discussed the political and security situation in the region, efforts to combat terrorism in Syria as well as the efforts of the friends of Iraq in supporting the economy and development and the return of displaced people for stability and a secure economic environment.

H.E. the Speaker affirmed that the stability of Iraq is the stability of the region, adding that the House of Representatives supports the government and works to provide all the necessary legislations to develop cooperation with Russia not only within the military field, but in the civil sphere, trade and all sectors.

For his part, Borisov assured his country's keenness to boost its strong relations with Iraq, expressing readiness for reconstruction and pointing to the continuation of military and technical cooperation between the two countries.
