INA - Baghdad Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR) called on the Ministry of Interior on Monday to hire a staff of lawyers serving the case of releasing the Iraqi fishermen imprisoned in Kuwait. “This is not a first for the Kuwaiti and Iranian coast guards. They always arrest Iraqi sailors and fishermen,” Ali Albiyati, IHCHR spokesman said to INA. Albiyati called on the government to start making new agreements with Kuwait and Iran regarding shared water rights. Noting that Kuwaiti Coast Guards have arrested seven Iraqi fishermen in Khour Abdu Allah shared canal.
