Iraq has refused to call on the United States to recognize the sovereignty of the Israeli occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights, the foreign ministry said Saturday.
"Iraq supports the resolutions of international legitimacy issued by the UN Security Council, which provide for the end of the occupation," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad al-Sahaf said in a statement received by the Iraqi news agency INA.
Al-Sahaf added that "the old age of occupation in putting his hand on the land he occupied does not earn him legitimacy and sovereignty over it."
He added that "Iraq supports the resolutions of international legitimacy issued by the Security Council, which provides for the end of the occupation."
