The Foreign Relations Committee held a meeting to discuss the recognition by the US president of the sovereignty of the Israeli occupation authority on the Syrian Golan Heights. The first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Karim al-Kaabi, chaired a number of important issues.
The meeting, chaired by MP Malhan al-Mukotar, discussed issues related to the organization of the committee's work, including the issue of the country's external representation.
The meeting resulted in a statement on behalf of the Foreign Relations Committee in response to the US decision on the Syrian Golan, received the Iraqi News Agency a copy of it , and the following is the text of the statement:
The Committee on Foreign Relations condemns and rejects the decision of the recognition of the administration of President Trump recognition of the occupied Syrian Golan, as part of the Zionist entity the usurper.
While we affirm that this resolution is a flagrant violation of international conventions, laws and resolutions rejecting the occupation and the annexation of territory by force, we express our condemnation of this unjust decision, which will prevent peace and stability in the region and predict serious repercussions at the international and regional levels.
The Committee on Foreign Relations calls upon the Iraqi government to express the voice of the people in their condemnation of this unjust decision, and to exert all efforts to cancel this decision and condemn it, and call on the Arab League and the United Nations to seek to abolish this resolution.
