    A statement issued by his press office said that the Speaker of the Parliament had made telephone contact with the competent authorities to follow up the developments.

    The statement reads as follows: We had conducted numerous telephone contacts with the competent authorities to monitor the developments of the accident and to place the families of the victims and the injured and to provide all forms of support at all levels.
