BPC foils drug smuggling attempt at Shalamcheh border crossing

    Border Port Commission –BPC thwarted a smuggling attempt at Shalamcheh border crossing on Sunday. One kilogram of crystal meth, along with a large quantity of narcotic pills, were seized from an Iraqi woman attempting to bring these substances into the country.
     
    Alaa Al-Din Al-Qaisi, spokesman for BPC told The Iraqi News Agency-INA that “the female traveler was arrested by officials at Shalamcheh crossing after authorities discovered one kilogram of crystal meth hidden inside her footwear. Additionally, 3,790 tramadol pills and four grams of marijuana were found concealed within her headscarf”.
     
    The operation, which successfully intercepted the smuggling attempt, was conducted by a coordinated team of female inspectors, the Border Anti-Narcotics Unit, the Technical Division, and supported by the Customs Police, K9 unit, the Licensing Department, and Intelligence Services.
     
    A formal report was filed, and the suspect, along with the seized narcotics, was handed over to the Shalamcheh Customs Police for further legal procedures.
