Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein affirmed on Monday Iraq's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with the United Kingdom.
Hussein received a copy of the credentials of the new British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a statement from the Ministry - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The Foreign Minister welcomed the new ambassador, wishing him success in his duties, stressing "Iraq's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields."
During the meeting, they discussed ways to develop cooperation and issues of common interest at the regional and international levels.
In turn, the British Ambassador expressed his "aspiration to work to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between Baghdad and London, to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples."
