Minister of transportation Abdullah Laibi during visited Anbar province met the parliament speaker Mohammed Al-Halbousi for discuss Iraq’s joining to the Road transport convention of the European Union.
This agreement requires the establishment of rapid passages at the border crossings for the easy entry and exit of trucks bearing the TIR mark, and that accession to this agreement will strengthen trade ties with neighboring countries and the region.
For his part, President of parliament welcomed this step, explaining that the Iraqi government adopts this policy, and seeks to open prospects for trade cooperation with all countries of the world.
The accession to the (TIR) will provide an area for linking with the customs systems, and preparing border crossings to entry of trucks, and Iraq will be a transit zone between countries in addition to the process of trade exchange.
