Iran and Qatar stress the importance of the success of the comprehensive political process in Syria

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed, today, Wednesday, that his country's policy believes that the countries of the region can work to achieve stability and security.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said during a joint press conference with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The ongoing meetings between officials in both countries confirm the strong ties," indicating that "strengthening and expanding relations in all fields with the countries of the region is one of Iran's basic policies."

He added, "We believe that the countries of the region can work to achieve stability and security in the region," stressing "the unity of Syrian lands and the right of the Syrian people to self-determination."

He continued, "We held consultations with the Emir of Qatar regarding the current developments in the region," offering his thanks to "the State of Qatar for what it has done in the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and the liberation of Palestinian prisoners."
For his part, the Emir of Qatar confirmed that he "will visit Tehran at a time when the region is witnessing challenges that require consultation and coordination," indicating that "the recent visit of the Iranian President to the State of Qatar contributed to developing relations between the two countries."

He added, "We held discussions that included many areas of cooperation and stressed the importance of exploring potential opportunities for cooperation," explaining, "We discussed the difficult circumstances in the region and agreed that the best way to resolve conflicts is through constructive dialogue."

He continued that "dialogues and understandings support stability in the region and enhance the prosperity of its countries and peoples," stressing "the need to adhere to the ceasefire in Gaza and continue the flow of aid.

The Emir of Qatar concluded, "We talked about the importance of the success of the comprehensive political process in Syria."
