The Ministry of Transportation clarified, today, Thursday, the details of the submerged tunnel project under the Khor Al-Zubair Canal, indicating that its completion date is the end of this year.
The ministry's spokesman, Maitham Al-Safi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Iraqi ports have begun the first phase of the submergence operations of the ten pieces that make up the submerged tunnel under the Khor Al-Zubair Canal, and the estimated period for its completion is the end of this year 2025."
Al-Safi added that "this tunnel represents the link between the Grand Faw Port projects and the development road and passes under the navigational canal (Khor Al-Zubair)", noting that "the length of the tunnel is estimated at about 2444 meters.”
