The National Security Council held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, to discuss the emergency and new issues and its agenda.
The National Security Council reviewed a detailed report of the anti-terrorism agency on the situation on the Iraqi-Syrian border, the security measures taken, the level of intelligence and security efforts, monitoring and coordination between the military units, the continuation of search operations and the pursuit of elements in the adjacent desert areas and monitoring the border strip to prevent any infiltration Iraq.
The Council endorsed the strategy to combat violent extremism leading to terrorism, which was submitted by the National Security Adviser after the Council made the necessary amendments and review and discussed all aspects.
