Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhil, discussed with the Saudi side, today, Tuesday, the Najaf Solar Power Plant project and fuel processing technologies for the stations.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Minister of Electricity Ziyad Ali Fadhil met with the representative of the Saudi Investment Authority, Khaled Al-Hedhal, in the presence of officials from the Solutions Oil Services Company."
He added that "the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the electric power sector between the two brotherly countries," and the minister praised "the depth of bilateral relations between Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
The statement continued, "The representative of the oil company presented a detailed presentation of advanced technologies in the field of fuel processing and its waste resulting from refining operations in thermal and gas power plants, and the possibility of transferring this advanced technology to Iraq to benefit from it in recycling waste and operating generating units."
The statement indicated that "the two sides also discussed the invitation extended to the Saudi company "ACWA Power" to establish and operate the Najaf Solar Power Plant in the Middle Euphrates region, with a production capacity of up to 1000 megawatts, in preparation for signing the final contract with the company."
