Iraq's representative: We reject any division of Syrian lands

    Iraq's representative to the UN Security Council, Abbas Kadhim Obaid, confirmed on Tuesday Iraq's rejection of any division of Syrian lands, while calling on the Security Council to put an end to the Zionist violations in Syria.


    "The Syrian people are the ones who have the right to determine their fate. Developing a clear roadmap that guarantees the effective participation of all Syrian forces," said Obeid in a speech during the UN Security Council session - followed up by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.


    Obeid added, "We reject any division of Syrian lands. Syria should not be a haven or a crossing for terrorists."


    He condemned "the Zionist entity's decision to expand settlements in the occupied Golan," explaining that "the Golan is occupied Syrian land, and we condemn the entity's decision to expand settlements there," calling on "the Security Council to put an end to the Zionist violations in Syria," stressing "Baghdad's readiness to continue working with all parties to achieve peace in Syria."


    Iraq's representative to the UN Security Council called on "all Syrian parties to overcome differences and work together to build a political system that reflects the aspirations of the Syrian people in all their components."
