Aboul Gheit: Looking forward to working with the Syrians for a successful transitional phase

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed his aspiration to work with the Syrians for a successful transitional phase on Saturday.

"In Aqaba, we are meeting within the framework of the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee for Syria, the goal is to support the Syrian people and their aspirations for a better future," said Aboul Gheit on X - followed up by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

Aboul Gheit added, "The transitional phase is important and sensitive. It needs to be comprehensive and reflect the diversity of Syrian society."

"We look forward to working with the Syrians for a successful transitional phase. We encourage everyone to adopt dialogue and uphold the interest of the homeland," he noted.

He stressed "the centrality of the principle of Syria's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity."
