The Arab League urges the continued provision of essential aid to Gaza

    The Arab League confirmed, on Wednesday, that the health and humanitarian repercussions in Gaza require the continued provision of necessary aid, while indicating that Arab countries must continue to provide all forms of support and assistance to the Palestinian people.

    Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said in her speech during the meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Council of Arab Health Ministers provided urgent support at the beginning of the war of extermination witnessed by the Gaza Strip, and its health and humanitarian repercussions still require the continued support of the Council to provide the necessary assistance to the Palestinian people and urge Arab countries to continue providing all forms of support and assistance to the Palestinian people,” noting that “the health and humanitarian conditions in many member states call for intensifying cooperation, coordination, solidarity and providing urgent needs to support the health sectors in these countries.”

    She added that "the Executive Office will address the health topics presented tomorrow morning to the 61st regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers to make appropriate recommendations regarding them in preparation for their approval by the ministers," indicating that "the topics were discussed and the draft recommendations presented to the ministers were submitted by members of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, which held its work at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States on 11/11/2024."

    She explained that "the topic of supporting mental health will be presented under the item of any new work to prepare an Arab strategy to support and promote mental health," noting that "the Minister of Health of the State of Palestine will give a presentation on the reality and challenges of the Palestinian health sector."
