PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani confirmed on Tuesday that what is happening in Syria represents national security for Iraq.
Al-Sudani chaired on Tuesday the 49th regular session of the Cabinet during which general developments in the country were discussed, several important files were discussed, and their implementation was followed up, in addition to discussing the topics on the agenda and taking the necessary decisions, according to a statement by the PM Media Office - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The Prime Minister spoke at the beginning of the session about the developments taking place in the region, especially what is happening in Syria, which represents national security for Iraq, stressing that the government has worked since its formation to raise the level of readiness of the security forces and fortify the Iraqi borders.
"A series of contacts were made with several leaders of countries regarding the situation in Syria to support stability in the region and prevent any repercussions there, especially with the ongoing criminal Zionist war that has been going on for more than a year," he highlighted, stressing "the importance of coordinating positions with the brotherly and friendly countries of the region to prevent matters in Syria from slipping into dangerous stages."
