President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, stressed on Monday the necessity of intensifying efforts and joint coordination to reach a state of security and stability in the region.
"President Rashid received, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq, Muhammed Kadhim Al-Sadiq," according to a statement by the media department of the Presidency of the Republic - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement added that "the meeting discussed the recent situation in Syria, as President Rashid stressed "the necessity of intensifying efforts and joint coordination to reach a state of security and stability in the region, and to preserve the unity and sovereignty of Syria and the safety of its people."
In turn, the Iranian ambassador stressed "the importance of continuing consultation and joint coordination to achieve international peace and security."
