Baghdad-INA
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan warned today, Monday, of the danger of expanding the circle of regional conflict.
A statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, on the sidelines of the international conference to support and enhance the humanitarian response to Gaza Strip held in Cairo."
The statement added that "the meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries and intensify joint efforts in light of the continued daily and systematic Zionist aggression against civilians in Gaza Strip."
The two ministers stressed "the need to put an end to the serious violations to which the Palestinian people are exposed, including forced displacement and deliberate destruction, in clear and explicit violation of international humanitarian law."
"The discussions addressed the repercussions of the ongoing escalation in the region, as the two sides warned of the danger of expanding the circle of regional conflict, as it could lead to the outbreak of a comprehensive war."
The two ministers stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of urgent international action to stop the ongoing Zionist violations and support the Palestinian people, while emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to protect security and stability in the region."
