Minister of Communications Hiyam Al-Yasiri confirmed today, Thursday, that the ministry will negotiate with the parent company (Vodafone International) and not its international branches, pointing to the possibility of establishing the company "Vodafone Iraq" in the future.
A statement by the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Minister of Communications Hiyam Al-Yasiri confirmed that the ministry will negotiate with the parent company (Vodafone International), which specializes in providing mobile phone network services, not its branches in any of the different countries."
Al-Yasiri pointed out that "after completing the preparatory procedures, we may reach in the future the establishment of (Vodafone Iraq) and obtain its global brand, as is the case in the countries that have succeeded in doing so."
The Council of Ministers approved the selection of Vodafone International Telecommunications Company as the operator of the national license project for mobile phones with fifth-generation technology and assigned the Ministry of Communications to proceed with the preparatory procedures for the project.
