Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani discussed with Syrian Minister of Justice Ahmed Awad, today, Thursday, cooperation and joint coordination in the judicial and legal fields.
A statement by the ministry - received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) - stated that "Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani met this evening with Syrian Minister of Justice Judge Ahmed Awad, where the two sides discussed ways of cooperation and joint coordination in the judicial and legal fields to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries."
The statement added that "during the meeting that preceded the launch of the 40th session of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers, the problem of children accompanying their mothers convicted of terrorism cases and detained in Iraqi prisons was discussed." The
situation of Syrian convicts was also discussed according to the statement - and the possibility of activating the prisoner exchange agreement was discussed, in addition to activating several agreements that would develop judicial work and strengthen relations between Iraq and the Syrian Arab Republic.
