The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) confirmed today, Thursday, that 12 Iraqi universities have been included in the Times ranking.
A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Times Higher Education has released the results of its (Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025), highlighting the best universities in the field of interdisciplinary scientific research for the year 2025."
The statement added that "the interdisciplinary science ranking evaluated 749 universities worldwide based on eleven performance indicators across three main areas: (Inputs: 19%), (Process: 16%), and (Outputs: 65%). The results revealed that the University of Baghdad ranked 161st globally, followed by the universities of Gihan - Erbil, Al-Mustaqbal, Babil, the University of Technology, Anbar, Al-Nahrain, Al-Farahidi, Al-Furat Al-Awsat, Tikrit, Diyala, and Wasit."
It also noted that "92 countries participated in this ranking, which is the first of its kind to assess universities' contributions and commitment to interdisciplinary sciences. Twelve universities from Iraq represented the country, positioning it third among Arab nations and 20th globally, a rank shared by both Malaysia and Poland."
