The advisor to the United Nations Population Fund, Mahdi Al-Alaq, confirmed on Thursday, that the percentages of achievement achieved from the population census have exceeded 70% in most governorates so far, while indicating that the initial results of the census will be announced approximately two days after the end of the field work.
Al-Alaq told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The percentages of achievement achieved from the general population census so far indicate that the percentage has exceeded 70% in most governorates," stressing that "the field work will be completed according to the drawn time plan."
Al-Alaq added that "a phone number has been published for families that have not been reached by census employees until Thursday evening, as according to technical and international instructions, a call center is supposed to be secured to receive questions and inquiries and to ensure that work is proceeding properly," noting that "the plan is going very well so far."
He continued that "the preliminary results of the census will be announced approximately two days after the end of the field work," noting that "the census is developmental and all the questions in it are designed based on the need for indicators for developmental purposes."
