Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, confirmed on Saturday, that the population census will outline Iraq’s development map.
In a speech followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Tamim stated: “The population census is the first comprehensive developmental census conducted in Iraq in 37 years,” noting that “the census represents a message of social, security, and economic stability in the country.”
He added that “the population census is among the priorities of the government program, as it is the first developmental census undertaken by the Ministry of Planning,” explaining that “the government has supported the census procedures because it represents a national and constitutional entitlement.”
Tamim emphasized that “the census will provide the government and subsequent administrations with a developmental roadmap for delivering services and projects to citizens,” highlighting that “the census data will be used for development purposes and to foresee a better future for Iraqis, thereby achieving demographic stability.”
The Minister of Planning expressed his gratitude to the employees of the Ministries of Planning and Education, as well as to the security agencies, for their efforts in completing the population census.
