The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) began on Tuesday, in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, with participation from Iraq.
The reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that, “The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change opened with the participation of the Iraqi delegation led by President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid in attendance.”
The reporter noted, “This conference is the largest event organised by Azerbaijan to date and is being held for the first time in the region.”
According to the report, “A host-country agreement and other key documents were signed between the Government of Azerbaijan and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat.”
It is noted that “President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit, responding to an invitation from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to participate in COP29, held in Baku.”
The report added, “The Iraqi delegation includes Health Minister Saleh Al-Hasnawi, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water, and Marshlands Faleh Al-Khazali, along with several officials and advisors.”
