The General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs announced on Sunday, the seizure of (170) kilograms of Captagon narcotic pills and the dismantling of a network specialised in drug trafficking with international links.
A statement by the Directorate received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "according to judicial decisions issued by the Central Investigation Court in Rusafa, the backs of international drug traffickers were broken and they inflicted new heavy losses within the framework of the supreme national campaign to combat drugs and the security duties carried out by the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs and with the efforts of its brave heroes, a qualitative operation was carried out during the past hours after forming a specialized working team from the Special Investigations Department affiliated to the General Headquarters and based on the directives of the Director General of Narcotics Affairs with intelligence depth."
He added, "The operation resulted in the arrest of (4) drug dealers, one of whom is a foreigner, the dismantling of their international network, and the seizure of (170) kilograms of Captagon narcotic pills in Basra."
The statement continued, "The men of the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs are still pursuing a group of soft death networks in a number of governorates with great determination, and these men will remain ready to deal with any target that tries to trade in this scourge among Iraqi society."
