Head of the Iraqi Media Network - IMN, Karim Hammadi, confirmed on Saturday that holding the Arab Media Conference in Baghdad next year is an opportunity to focus on environmental issues in the media.

Hammadi and Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union, Abdul Rahim Salman, held a press conference after the first coordination meeting; to prepare for the Fourth Arab Media Conference scheduled to be held in Baghdad in April, next year, according to the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

"I bring you the greetings of PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani and his full support for holding the conference in Baghdad, which you will find, as always, a home that is happy to embrace brothers," Hammadi said, noting "the role of the media in confronting climate change also has an Iraqi specificity, considering that Iraq, like many countries, suffers from climate change such as drought and pollution, as it is very important to mobilize media energies to raise awareness of the phenomenon of climate change and work to reduce it."

He highlighted that "the work of the upcoming conference will also witness the discussion of topics related to artificial intelligence in addition to the main topic related to climate change; due to the importance of the two topics and their interconnectedness."

"The events witnessed by the region, most notably the Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, have contributed to the decline in interest in environmental issues in the media, but we are determined to give this topic the attention it deserves, and the Baghdad conference will be a good opportunity for that," he added.

In turn, Abdul Rahim Salman said "Iraq has the most prominent role in the work of the union, as in addition to being a founder, its support for us was unlimited in all fields, and the media leaps witnessed by Iraq have enabled it to win the most awards in the festivals we hold."

He pointed out, "We look forward to a successful conference by Baghdad, the city of civilization and Arabism after it has regained its glory and splendor. We are pleased that this is the first edition that our conference will take from Tunisia to its brotherly city, Baghdad."

"The coordination meeting approved the dates of the conference's activities and drew its broad outlines. We have witnessed great cooperation from the Iraqi side, which prompts us to be optimistic about a distinguished edition of the festival that will be added to the series of previous successful editions," he noted.
