Head of the Media Committee for the International Holy Quran Competition, Talib Al-Ahmad, confirmed today, Saturday, that the Holy Quran Competition receives personal attention from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.

Al-Ahmad told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The competition was launched today at Al-Rasheed Hotel with the participation of 31 Arab and Islamic countries," noting that "the competition enjoys special personal interest from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and this interest stems from his keenness to spread the Quranic culture and to make the Quran a starting point for the advancement of society and the state."

He added that "the Prime Minister has a vision and approach to reform the country's conditions in general at various levels," noting that "the Prime Minister is interested in making this competition distinguished at the level of the Islamic world and the most splendid and expressive of the unity of Muslims."

He stressed that "the history of modern Iraq has not witnessed any international competition, and this competition that was held today is different, and the state is the one that sponsors it and provides it with all forms of support and funding and offers generous prizes," noting that "the government and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research issued a decision through which a channel was allocated to accept preparatory students, specifically for those who have memorized the Qur’an this year, with the aim of distinguishing them from the rest of the students and making them role models and motivating students in the coming years that those who have memorized the Book of God have a privilege and provide continuous care and give them a greater and better privilege in acceptance throughout the stages of study, and this is a pioneering initiative, and now in the central admission there is a different channel, which is the channel for memorizers of the Qur’an and granting them special care, and it is credited to the government and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research."
