Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani confirmed today, Saturday, that the government provided all care to those who memorized the Holy Quran, while calling for an end to the war in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated the Iraq International Competition for Memorizing and Reciting the Holy Quran, which was held under the slogan (From Baghdad, the civilization and Islam, to Gaza, the resistance, and Lebanon, the jihad, with the Holy Quran, victory and steadfastness), with the participation of 62 contestants for memorization and recitation, representing 31 Arab and Islamic countries."
In a speech he delivered during the opening, the Prime Minister, according to the statement, welcomed "the participants in this international competition hosted by the capital, Baghdad," referring to Iraq's pioneering role in serving the Holy Quran and spreading its value system, which has strengthened the inculcation of the values of tolerance, peace and love, without religious, sectarian or denominational sensitivity, and through which Iraqis were able to overcome all challenges," stressing the need to "follow the guidance of the Quran in spreading love and preserving the unity of the country."
The Prime Minister explained that "the government has provided all support and care for memorizers and reciters of the Holy Quran, and directed the opening of a special channel for them to be accepted into universities, and supervised the care and support of Quranic centers, and encouraged schools, institutes and universities to hold Quranic forums, and urged the youth to memorize and care for it, and His Excellency directed that this competition be an annual tradition."
The Prime Minister referred, in his speech, to "the crimes of genocide committed against our people in Palestine and Lebanon amid silence Internationally implemented, renewing the call to stop the barbaric war committed by the Zionist murder gangs.
It is noteworthy that the competition, whose preparations were supervised by the Shiite and Sunni Endowments and will last for six days, includes an elite group of international and local judges with expertise in the field of Quranic sciences, and arbitration in Quranic readings, recitations, and competitions.
