Hassan Kareem Al-Kaabi The first deputy of the parliament speaker, stressed on the importance of enhancing the Arabic Parliaments’ role in implementing and following up theSustainable Development Plan 2030.
In his speech (as head of the Iraqi delegation) at the Parliamentary Forum for the Sustainable Development Plan 2030 in the Arab Region, at the Lebanese capital Beirut; he said: “... the importance of concluding the meetings of this forum with recommendations focusing on putting practical solutions to all challenges facing parliaments in the Arab countries, working to link Parliamentary work with
the foundations of the development work”. He also called in his speech (which Ina received a copy of) “… to put practical frameworks in which the efforts of all partners would combine to achieve development goals”.
The forum aims at researching the ways to strengthening the role of parliamentarians in implementing the Development Plan 2030, and its follow-ups and evaluations in the Arab Region. While discussions focused upon linking Parliamentary work with development work.
The annual Parliamentary Forum is a partnership between the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Islamic Development Bank in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
