The Defence Industry Commission announced on Tuesday, the initiation of contracts to localize the military industry, noting that Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani provided great support for the advancement of national military industries.
The head of the Commission, Mustafa Ati, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani for the Defence Industry Commission is not recent, but he is the founder of the Commission and its return since he was Minister of Industry and Minerals," pointing out, "Al-Sudani is the one who founded basis for military industries and then continued his procedures in the parliament by legislating its law and after assigning him the duties of the presidency of the Cabinet there was unlimited support through continuous guidance and support for contracts through the security forces.”
"Today, the authority has started contracting and localizing industry, and this is due to the support of the prime minister, believing that military industries are important in strengthening the capabilities of the security forces," he said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated a factory for the production of light equipment in the industrial complex of the Commission south of Baghdad, as well as a mortar bomb factory in the industrial complex of the Commission.
