Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani directed on Sunday, the formation of committees to audit and monitor the movement of funds in the accounts of the judicial departments.
A statement by the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani directed today the formation of specialized periodic committees to audit and monitor the movement of funds in the accounts of the judicial departments, in a way that ensures enhancing transparency and reducing any violations that may occur these committees include monitoring financial balances and ensuring that financial movements are consistent with the legal frameworks and financial instructions issued."
Shawani stressed the "need for direct and sustained follow-up by the general managers in the relevant judicial departments to ensure the achievement of the desired goals," indicating that "the departments subject to this procedure include the Real Estate Registration Department, the Enforcement Department, the Notary Public Department, and the Minors' Care Department."
The statement continued, "This step comes within the Ministry's ongoing campaign to combat corruption, ensure the protection of public funds, and prevent any waste that may harm the public interest, as these procedures are an extension of efforts to enhance financial oversight and accountability within judicial institutions."
