Dhi Qar – INA
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, confirmed on Saturday that the security forces are continuing to carry out their duties in Dhi Qar province.
During a press conference in Dhi Qar, attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Miri stated: “The security forces are consistently performing their responsibilities related to criminal activities, tribal conflicts, thefts, and moral issues.”
He emphasized, “Law will prevail to ensure security in Dhi Qar, making it safer than other provinces in terms of peace and security.”
He further noted that “578 individuals were arrested in recent days under judicial warrants, and not because they were protesters. Among them, 10 were charged under Anti-Terrorism Laws for premeditated murder.”
He added, “Twenty-five individuals were arrested under Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code, 15 for drug offenses, 30 for theft, 4 for armed robbery, and 1 for kidnapping.”
He also continued, “Twenty individuals were arrested for moral crimes, 30 for fraud, 20 for attempted murder, and 25 for assaulting public employees. Additionally, 25 were arrested in tribal disputes, and 371 for various criminal offenses.”
Miri pointed out that “Dhi Qar is a focal point due to its tourism potential, and there should be no security breaches or violations that might deter tourists and harm its economy.”
He clarified, “The province and state institutions have been subjected to extortion, which we will not tolerate, as there are legitimate ways to demand rights.”
